Abstract:
(EN) Disclosed is a polymer dispersed liquid crystal (PDLC) glass construction which is suitable for use in automotive applications, and a method for forming a PDLC glass construction suitable for use in automotive applications. Exemplary embodiments of a PDLC glass construction include at least one darkened layer on a top side of a PDLC film, and at least one darkened layer on a bottom side of the PDLC film, for reducing visibility of an opaque PDLC material through the PDLC glass construction while reducing the transmission of visible light and/or energy through the PDLC glass construction. Exemplary embodiments of a PDLC glass construction may include additional interlayers such as polymer films, infrared reflecting (IR) coatings/layers, paint(s), low-emissivity (low-E) coatings, ultraviolet (UV) blocking materials, and/or anti-condensation layers.
(FR) La présente invention concerne une construction de vitres à cristaux liquides dispersés dans un polymère (PDLC) qui convient à l’utilisation dans les applications automobiles, et un procédé de formation d’une construction de vitres PDLC convenant à l’utilisation dans les applications automobiles. Des modes de réalisation indicatifs d’une construction de vitres PDLC comprennent au moins une couche noircie sur un côté supérieur d’un film PDLC, et au moins une couche noircie sur un côté inférieur du film PDLC, pour réduire la visibilité d’un matériau PDLC opaque à travers la construction de vitres PDLC tout en réduisant la transmission de la lumière visible et/ou de l’énergie à travers la construction de vitres PDLC. Les modes de réalisation indicatifs d’une construction de vitres PDLC peuvent comprendre des intercouches additionnelles telles que des films polymères, des revêtements/couches de réflexion infrarouge (IR), une(des) peinture(s), des revêtements de faible émissivité (faible E), des matériaux bloquant le rayonnement ultraviolet (UV), et/ou des couches anti-condensation.
