Abstract:
(EN) The present invention relates to a gesture detection apparatus and method of operation comprising of an mm-wave radar sensor (100), having an integrated mm-wave IC front end (10), with special arrangement of the antenna system, with a new art of angle detection and which does not contain radio down-conversion topology, common in non-professional radar systems. The proposed apparatus is capable of detecting the two dimensional target angle, having an inherently low-cost system topology, suitable as a replacement in functionality for the commonly used gesture detection system in consumer applications. The proposed apparatus topology consist of two transmitting planar antennae (221,222), and two pairs of receiving antennae (221,222; 216,217) without the down-conversion of receiver chains, but with introduced analog signal combining structures (213;218) and mm-wave power detectors (214,215,219,2120). The complete proposed sensor apparatus topology with integrated antennae, mm-wave IC and digital processing parts may be realized in a module smaller than 1 x 1 x 0.5 cm and operating in the 60 GHz band for industrial, health care and consumer applications, as well as in the 77-81 GHz band for automotive applications. The integration of the sensor module may be performed in polymer technologies. The sensor can be used as a part of another device or as a gadget.
(FR) La présente invention concerne un appareil de détection de geste et un procédé de fonctionnement comprenant un capteur radar à ondes millimétriques (100), doté d'une extrémité avant de circuit intégré à ondes millimétriques (10), et avec une disposition spéciale du système d'antenne, avec une nouvelle technique de détection d'angle, et qui ne contient pas de topologie de conversion descendante radio, courante dans des systèmes radar non professionnels. L'appareil proposé est capable de détecter l'angle cible bidimensionnel, présentant une topologie de système à bas coût intrinsèque, et convient comme un substitut de fonctionnalité pour le système de détection de gestes couramment utilisé dans des applications consommateurs. La topologie d'appareil de l'invention comprend deux antennes planaires de transmission (221, 222), et deux paires d'antennes de réception (221, 222; 216, 217) sans conversion descendante des canaux de réception, mais avec l'introduction de structures de combinaison de signal analogique (213;218) et de détecteurs de puissance d'ondes millimétriques (214, 215, 219, 2120). La topologie de l'appareil de détection proposée complète avec des antennes intégrées, un circuit intégré à ondes millimétriques et des parties de traitement numérique peuvent être réalisés dans un module inférieur à 1 x 1 x 0,5 cm et fonctionnant dans la bande 60 GHz pour des applications industrielles, de soins de santé et de consommateur, ainsi que dans la bande 77-81 GHz pour des applications automobiles. L'intégration du module de détection peut être effectuée dans des technologies de polymère. Le capteur peut être utilisé en tant que partie d'un autre dispositif ou comme un gadget.
