(EN) Disclosed is a composition in which a host material is blended with a phosphorescent compound represented by formula (1) and in which the quantity of chlorine atoms contained as an impurity in the phosphorescent compound is 3.5 ppm by mass or less relative to the total solid content blended in the composition. [In the formula, M1 denotes an iridium atom or the like. n1 denotes an integer of 1 or higher, n2 denotes an integer of 0 or higher, and the value of n1+n2 is 2 or 3. E1 and E2 each denote a carbon atom or a nitrogen atom. Ring R1 denotes a 5-membered aromatic heterocyclic ring, and ring R2 denotes an aromatic hydrocarbon ring or the like. A1-G1-A2 denotes an anionic bidentate ligand. A1 and A2 each denote a nitrogen atom or the like. G1 denotes a single bond or the like.]
