Abstract:
(EN) A Quaternary Mg-Zn-Ca-based alloy and a heat treatment process for producing bioresorbable bone fixation implants are described thereof. The mechanical and biocorrosion properties of the fabricated Mg-based alloy were improved by combining careful selection of the alloy's chemical composition and subsequent post-shaping process (heat treatments). Heat treatment process is more privileged especially after fabricating the part into its final shape such as in additive manufacturing (3D-printing) and powder metallurgy. In this way, it is possible to produce biocompatible, strong and less corrosive patient-specific bone fixation hardware. Also, such heat-treated Mg-Zn-Ca-based parts can be further coated with various types of biocompatible ceramic coatings for slower and more tailored biocorrosion rates.
(FR) La présente invention concerne un alliage quaternaire à base de Mg-Zn-Ca et un procédé de traitement thermique pour produire des implants de fixation osseuse biorésorbables. Les propriétés mécaniques et de biocorrosion de l’alliage à base de Mg fabriqué sont améliorées par combinaison d’une sélection minutieuse de la composition chimique de l’alliage et du procédé post-formage consécutif (traitements thermiques). Le procédé de traitement thermique est plus préférable, en particulier après la fabrication de la pièce dans sa forme finale, par exemple en fabrication additive (impression 3D) et en métallurgie des poudres. De cette manière, il est possible de produire un matériel de fixation osseuse spécifique à un patient biocompatible, solide et moins corrosif. De plus, de telles pièces à base de Mg-Zn-Ca thermiquement traitées peuvent en outre être revêtues avec différents types de revêtements céramiques biocompatibles pour obtenir des taux de corrosion plus lents et plus adaptés.
