Abstract:
(EN) Various configurations and methods for disabling system management mode (SMM) and verifying a disabled status of SMM in a computing system are disclosed. In various examples, SMM may be disabled through a hardware strap, soft-straps, or firmware functions, and the indication of the SMM disabled status may be included in a model specific register (MSR) value accessible to the central processing unit (CPU). Additionally, techniques for verifying whether SMM is disabled in hardware or firmware, preventing access of SMM functionality, and handling secure software operations are disclosed.
(FR) L'invention concerne diverses configurations et divers procédés permettant de désactiver un mode de gestion de système (SMM) et de vérifier un état désactivé du mode SMM dans un système informatique. Selon divers exemples, le mode SMM peut être désactivé au moyen d'une connexion matérielle, de connexions souples ou de fonctions de microprogramme et l'indication de l'état désactivé du mode SMM peut être comprise dans une valeur de registre spécifique à un modèle (MSR) accessible à l'unité centrale de traitement (CPU). De plus, l'invention porte également sur des techniques permettant de vérifier si le mode SMM est désactivé dans un matériel ou un microprogramme, empêchant un accès à une fonctionnalité du mode SMM, et de traiter des opérations logicielles sécurisées.
