Abstract:
(EN) The present invention discloses a Fluid End and its manufacturing method. The conventional fluid end manufacturing methods involve machining of all surfaces. This demands more input stock for manufacturing process and a lot of material wastage during machining process. In the conventional processes involving open die forging followed by machining result into only about 34 % utilization of material. In the present invention, fluid end component geometry is optimized. Assembly surfaces are machined whereas other or non-assembly surfaces are as- forged condition. The method of invention also results in significant reduction in machining time and chip removal. The present invention also discloses a process of manufacturing using a combination of open die and closed die forging, and machining. It involves the steps of cogging an ingot to form billet for closed die forging using open die forging, forging the billet in closed die using forging equipment, semi-finish/rough/partial machining, heat treatment, drilling and finish machining the component. Most of the non-assembly areas of the fluid end are left in as-forged condition.
(FR) La présente invention concerne une extrémité côté fluide et son procédé de fabrication. Les procédés conventionnels de fabrication d'une extrémité côté fluide font intervenir un usinage de toutes les surfaces. Ceci exige une plus grande quantité de matières premières pour le processus de fabrication et donne lieu à beaucoup de gaspillage de matériau lors du processus d'usinage. Dans les processus conventionnels faisant intervenir un forgeage à matrice ouverte suivi par un usinage, seulement environ 34 % du matériau est utilisé. Selon la présente invention, la géométrie du composant d'extrémité côté fluide est optimisée. Les surfaces d'assemblage sont usinées tandis que d'autres surfaces ou des surfaces de non-assemblage sont dans l'état venu de forgeage. Le procédé selon l'invention résulte également en une réduction considérable du temps d'usinage et d'enlèvement des copeaux. La présente invention divulgue également un procédé de fabrication utilisant une combinaison de forgeage à matrice ouverte et de forgeage à matrice fermée, et d'usinage. Il comprend les étapes de dégrossissage d'un lingot pour former une billette de forgeage à matrice fermée par forgeage à matrice ouverte, de forgeage de la billette dans une matrice fermée en utilisant un équipement de forgeage, un usinage de semi-finition/brut/partiel, un traitement thermique, un perçage et un usinage de finition du composant. La plupart des zones de non-assemblage de l'extrémité côté fluide sont laissées dans l'état venu de forgeage.
