Abstract:
(EN) High density brine compositions may be formulated including water and at least one rare earth nitrate salt, where the at least one rare earth salt is present in an amount effective for the high density brine composition to have a density in the range of about 8.5 to about 21 pounds per gallon (about 1020 to about 2500 kg/m3). Suitable rare earth nitrate salts include, but are not necessarily limited to, lanthanum nitrate (La(N03)3), cerium nitrate (Ce(N03)3), scandium nitrate, and/or yttrium nitrate. Alkaline earth metal salts such as, but not limited to, calcium bromide (CaBr2), and alkali metal salts and metal salts may also be used with the rare earth nitrate salt(s). In one non-limiting embodiment the high density brines have an absence of zinc and cesium salts. These high density brine compositions may be suitably used for completion fluids in hydrocarbon recovery operations.
(FR) L’invention concerne des compositions de saumure haute densité pouvant comprendre de l'eau et au moins un sel de nitrate de terres rares, le ou les sels de terres rares étant présents en une quantité efficace pour la composition de saumure haute densité possédant une densité comprise entre environ 8,5 et environ 21 livres par gallon (d’environ 1 020 à environ 2 500 kg/m3). Des sels de nitrate de terres rares appropriés comprennent, mais pas exclusivement, du nitrate de lanthane (La(N03)3), du nitrate de cérium (Ce(N03)3), du nitrate de scandium, et/ou du nitrate d'yttrium. Des sels de métaux alcalino-terreux tels que, entre autres, le bromure de calcium (CaBr2), et des sels métalliques alcalins et des sels métalliques peuvent également être utilisés avec le ou les sels de nitrate de terres rares. Selon un mode de réalisation non restrictif, les saumures haute densité présentent une absence en sels de zinc et de césium. Ces compositions de saumure haute densité peuvent être utilisées de manière appropriée pour des fluides de complétion lors d’opérations de récupération d'hydrocarbures.
