Abstract:
(EN) An apparatus and method for selectively minimizing cord long at least one surface of a glass ribbon drawn from a forming body in a fusion down draw glass making process. The apparatus includes a forming body comprising asymmetric side walls flanking a trough into which molten glass flows. The asymmetric side walls result in increased flow over one side wall relative to the opposing side wall, thereby varying the amount of cord manifest on one surface of the glass ribbon relative to the opposing surface of the glass ribbon.
(FR) L'invention concerne un appareil et un procédé permettant de réduire au minimum sélectivement la corde le long d'au moins une surface d'un ruban de verre étiré à partir d'un corps de formage dans un procédé de fabrication de verre par étirage par le bas à l'état fondu. L'appareil comprend un corps de mise en forme comprenant des parois latérales asymétriques encadrant une rigole dans laquelle s'écoule le verre fondu. Les parois latérales asymétriques conduisent à un écoulement accru sur une paroi latérale par rapport à la paroi latérale opposée, ce qui permet de faire varier la quantité de corde visible sur une surface du ruban de verre par rapport à la surface opposée du ruban de verre.
