Abstract
(EN) A cover (10) for use in a digital microfluidics system (16) for manipulating samples in liquid portions or droplets is provided. The digital microfluidics system (16) com- prises a first substrate (18) with an array of electrodes (24) and a central control unit (20) for controlling the selection and for providing a number of said electrodes with voltage for manipulating liquid portions or droplets by electrowetting. A working gap (30) with a gap height is located parallel to the array of electrodes (24) and in-between first and second hydrophobic surfaces (26,28) that face each other at least during operation of the digital microfluidics system (16). The cover (10) comprises on one side the second hydrophobic surface (28) and on another side at least one micro-container interface (32), which comprises at least one cone (34). The inner surface of the cone (34) is formed to provide a sealing form fit contact with an outer surface of an inserted micro-container nozzle (36), by which a liquid is transferrable through a fluidic access hole (38) formed into the cover (10) and interconnecting each cone (34) and the gap (30). The cover (10) may be part of a disposable cartridge (14) or may be provided separately.
(FR) L'invention concerne un couvercle (10) destiné à être utilisé dans un système microfluidique numérique (16) pour manipuler des échantillons dans des gouttelettes ou des parties de liquide. Le système microfluidique numérique (16) comprend un premier substrat (18) avec un réseau d'électrodes (24) et une unité de commande centrale (20) pour commander la sélection et fournir une tension à un certain nombre desdites électrodes pour manipuler des gouttelettes ou des parties de liquide par électromouillage. Un espace de travail (30) avec une hauteur d'espace est placé parallèlement au réseau d'électrodes (24) et entre des première et seconde surfaces hydrophobes (26, 28) qui se font mutuellement face au moins pendant le fonctionnement du système microfluidique numérique (16). Le couvercle (10) comprend, sur un côté, la seconde surface hydrophobe (28) et, sur un autre côté, au moins une interface de micro-contenant (32) qui comporte au moins un cône (34). La surface interne du cône (34) est formée pour fournir un contact d'ajustement de forme d'étanchéité avec une surface externe d'une buse de micro-contenant insérée (36) par laquelle un liquide peut être transféré à travers un trou d'accès fluidique (38) formé dans le couvercle (10) et reliant chaque cône (34) et l'espace (30). Le couvercle (10) peut faire partie d'une cartouche jetable (14) ou peut être fourni séparément.
