An objective of the present invention is to provide a winding device for shoe laces etc. which is reduced in size and weight without sacrificing strength, durability and reliability. The present invention provides a winding device 1 comprising: a base member 3 including a reel accommodating part 32 for accommodating a reel 4, the upper surface side of which is provided with upward-facing fins 46 and which winds up a lace; and a dial 6, the lower surface side of which is provided with downward-facing fins 52 that engage with the upward-facing fins 46 of the reel 4. The winding device 1 can achieve a locked state in which the downward-facing fins 52 of the dial 6 are engaged with the upward-facing fins 46 of the reel 4 so that rotation of the dial 6 can be transmitted to the reel 4, or an unlocked state in which the downward-facing fins 52 are disengaged from the upward-facing fins 46 of the reel 4 so that the reel 4 can rotate freely. Engagement surfaces f where the downward-facing fins 52 and the upward-facing fins 46 engage with each other are obliquely formed to mesh with each other so as to not easily come apart in the vertical direction.
