Title: METAL-PLASTIC JOINING MEMBER AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING SAME
Abstract:
Provided is a metal-plastic joining member that is easy to manufacture and has high joining strength. This metal-plastic joining member comprises a metal body having a ferric oxide layer on the surface thereof and a plastic body joined to the metal body with the ferric oxide layer interposed therebetween. The ferric oxide layer has a thickness of 50 nm to 10 μm, contains 60-40 at% of Fe and 40-60 at% of O on at least the outermost surface, and contains at least magnetite (Fe3O4). The ferric oxide layer is formed by, e.g., heating at least the surface of an iron substrate at 200-850°C in an oxidizing atmosphere. The plastic body comprises, e.g., polyphenylene sulfide (PPS). The joining of the metal body and the plastic body with the ferric oxide layer interposed therebetween is carried out by insert molding, heat welding involving friction heating, etc.
