The invention seeks to use a satellite panel material without the disadvantages inherent to the composite materials habitually used, particularly the complexity of creating perforations and of installing inserts in these perforations. To do that, the invention recommends the use of a panel made of metal or of metal alloy configured in such a way as to be able to be used as part of a satellite covering. According to one preferred embodiment, a satellite panel (1) is made up according to the invention of a substantially flat sheet, particularly made of aluminium or of an aluminium alloy, having stiffening ribs (11) positioned between perforations (12a, 12b) intended to serve as connections to items of equipment intended to be mounted on the satellite via inserts. The panel (1) has a thickness substantially equal to 2 mm. The invention also relates to a method of manufacturing such a panel (1) and to an automatic production apparatus intended to implement such a method.
