Abstract:
The present invention relates to an artificial lift system using a downhole reciprocating pump with a double action piston for oil wells. The pump comprises a plunger (4) moved by the mechanical or hydraulic actuation rod (3), and is characterised by double action pumping, that is to say during both strokes of the reciprocating movement. The suction valves (2) move in opposite directions in each stroke, as well as the discharge valves (1), allowing the pumped fluid to flow through the inner tube (5) during the ascending stroke and through the annular space between the outer tube (6) and the inner tube (5) during the descending stroke. This downhole double action pump can be used both in the conventional, mechanical pumping system, known as pumpjack, using the rods and all the existing actuation systems, and in the actuation systems using a hydraulic cylinder (13), as supported by this patent.
