Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a positive active material for nonaqueous-electrolyte secondary batteries which is capable of inhibiting the direct-current resistance of the batteries from increasing upon high-temperature storage (e.g., storage at 60ºC or higher). The positive-active material particles of an embodiment disclosed therein comprise: secondary particles each made up of aggregated primary particles of a lithium-containing transition metal oxide including Ni and Mn; and a boron compound present in the inner part of and on the surface of the secondary particles. In the lithium-containing transition metal oxide, the difference in proportion between the Ni and the Mn exceeds 0.2 and the proportion of the boron element content in the inner part of the secondary particles to the total boron element content in the inner part and surface of the secondary particles is in the range of 5-60 mass%.
