Title: METHOD OF DISTINGUISHING TWO COMBUSTION GASES PROVIDED FOR A COMBUSTION PROCESS HAVING DIFFERENT ENERGY CONTENTS
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method of distinguishing two combustion gases provided for a combustion process having different energy contents, characterized by the following steps: a) first of all, one of the two gases for the combustion process is mixed with air in a superstoichiometric ratio; b) then the combustion process is started and, proceeding from the superstoichiometric ratio, a resulting ionization signal is detected; c) subsequently, the ratio of gas and air is altered in the direction of the stoichiometric point until the ionization signal reaches a maximum value; d) the ratio of gas and air that arises at the maximum value is recorded as the reference ratio; e) subsequently, the ratio of gas and air is altered beyond the stoichiometric point until the ionization signal drops to a predetermined value below the maximum value; f) subsequently, the ratio of gas and air is altered back in the direction of the stoichiometric point as far as the reference ratio, during which the values of the ionization signal that are established are calculated mathematically; g) a calculation value of the ionization signal above a predetermined limit is regarded as the recognition of a combustion gas having a higher energy content and a calculation value below the limit as the recognition of a combustion gas having a lower energy content.
