A system and method for mood monitoring and/or episode prediction in a patient diagnosed with a mood disorder is provided, the system comprises patient equipment (PE) and server equipment (SE) configured to communicate with each other via a communication channel. The PE comprises a graphical user interface (GUI), a storage medium, and a communication means. The PE is configured and/or programmed to at least prompt the patient to input mood data via the GUI and transmit the mood data via the communication means. The SE comprises a graphical user interface (GUI), a storage medium, and a communication means. The SE is configured and/or programmed to at least receive the data from the PE, store the patient's data, calculate mathematical variables, and display the patient's data via the GUI. A determination is made, based on deviation from an established baseline of the calculated mathematical variables, on whether or not the patient is experiencing or is likely to experience a mood disorder episode.
