Abstract:
(EN) A brake pad for a disc brake with decreased wear characteristics is provided. The brake pad is configured with the distribution of brake pad friction material weighted toward the radially outer region of the brake pad, with the lateral sides of the pad material being generally aligned with radial lines originating at the rotation axis of the brake disc of the disc brake. The brake pad friction material distribution results in decreased brake application pressure between the brake pad and the brake disc while obtaining the same braking force provided by a comparable generally rectangular brake pad, resulting in lower brake pad wear at the same braking force levels.
(FR) L'invention concerne une plaquette de frein pour un frein à disque avec des caractéristiques d'usure réduites. La plaquette de frein est conçue avec la répartition de matériau de frottement de plaquette de frein pondérée vers la région radialement externe de la plaquette de frein, les côtés latéraux du matériau de plaquette étant globalement alignés avec des lignes radiales ayant pour origine l'axe de rotation du disque de frein du frein à disque. La répartition de matériau de frottement de plaquette de frein produit en résultat une réduction de la pression d'application de frein entre la plaquette de frein et le disque de frein tout en obtenant la même force de freinage que celle délivrée par une plaquette de frein globalement rectangulaire comparable, de façon à produire en résultat une usure de plaquette de frein moindre aux mêmes niveaux de force de freinage.
