Title: ALKANE PYROLYSIS METHOD
Abstract:
The invention refers to a method for the pyrolysis of C2-C4 alkanes to produce ethylene, propylene, butylene, hydrogen and unsaturated hydrocarbons, which can be widely used in the chemical and petrochemical industry. Described is a method for the pyrolysis of alkanes using radiation, which comprises feeding a stream of gaseous C2-C4 alkanes into a pyrolysis tube; heating the tube externally to heat the alkane stream by means of the tube walls; introducing one or more radiation beams of limited cross section into the alkane stream; additionally, hydrocarbons with one or more double –C=C- bonds and/or CO2, are introduced into the reaction mixture; the alkane pressure ranges from 0.1 to 10 atm at a radiated power density in the reaction medium above 10 W/cm2; the reaction medium temperature near the tube walls does not exceed 900⁰C; the distance between the radiation beam boundary and the tube wall ranges from 0.1 cm to 10 cm. Coherent radiation from a continuous-wave or a repetitively pulsed CO2 laser is used as a radiation source.
