Abstract:
In this cable cover damage location detection method, a cable cover damage location detection device is connected to a cable that is formed by covering a bundled plurality of wires with a cover layer, in which an insulating layer and a conductive layer are layered in order from inside to outside in the radial direction of the cable. The cable cover damage location detection device applies a voltage between both end sections of the conductive layer, then applies a voltage between a conductive layer end section of the conductive layer and a wire end section of the wires, detects the voltage between locations in the conductive layer that are separated in relation to the lengthwise direction of the cable, and calculates the location of cable cover damage on the basis of the ratio between a comparative voltage, which is detected when the voltage is applied between the conductive layer end section and the wire end section, and a reference voltage, which is detected when the voltage is applied between the two end sections.
