Title: SURFACE-COATED CUTTING TOOL PROVIDING EXCELLENT CHIPPING RESISTANCE AND WEAR RESISTANCE IN STRONG INTERMITTENT CUTTING WORK
Abstract:
Provided is a surface-coated cutting tool in which a hard coating layer comprising an alternating laminated structure of an A layer (1) and a B layer (2) is provided to a surface of a tool base (3), wherein the A layer (1) has a component composition of (Ti1-zAlz)N (where the atomic ratio is 0.4≤z≤0.7), and the B layer (2) has a component composition of (Cr1-x-yAlxMy)N (where the atomic ratio is 0.03≤x≤0.4, 0≤y≤0.05, M represents at least one element selected from: a Group 4a, 5a, or 6a element of the periodic table excluding Cr; B; and Si). The layer thickness tA of the A layer (1) and the layer thickness tB of the B layer (2) satisfy 0.67≤tB/tA≤2.0, the lattice constant a of crystal grains of the entire hard coating layer comprising the A layer (1) and the B layer (2) satisfies 4.10≤a≤4.20, the X-ray diffraction peak intensity ratio of a (200) surface and a (111) surface of the entire hard coating layer satisfies 2.0≤I(200)/I(111)≤10. Further, the plastic deformation work ratio Wplast/(Wplast+Welast) of the B layer (2) lies within the range of 0.35-0.50.
