Abstract:
Provided is a communication device capable of detecting improper message transmission to a network. A gateway CAN controller transmits a message to which a priority order (ID) is assigned to an ECU and receives the same therefrom via a communication line. The CAN controller counts the number of consecutive times that message transmission is hindered by arbitration processing as a consecutive hindrance number by using a consecutive hindrance number counter. The CAN controller stores the consecutive number of message transmission hindrances to be allowed as the allowed hindrance number in an allowed hindrance number table in a storage unit, in association with the priority order assigned to the message received via the communication line. Each time a message is received, the CAN controller compares the consecutive hindrance number and the allowed hindrance number for the message, and detects that an abnormality has occurred when the consecutive hindrance number exceeds the allowed hindrance number.
