Abstract:
Provided is a sewing machine that is capable of stably driving a presser member (38) for holding a fabric in place. The position at which a body member (81) of a forked member (80) abuts against a first cam surface (71A) of a composite cam (70) and the position at which an auxiliary member (82) abuts against a second cam surface (72A) of the composite cam (70) are misaligned from each other in the direction in which a main shaft (17) extends. Accordingly, the forked member (80) is prone to be subjected to a torque of which the centerline extends in a direction orthogonal to an oscillation centerline of the forked member (80). The first cam surface (71A) and the second cam surface (72A) are both tilted with respect to the direction in which the main shaft (17) extends, and thus the direction in which the body member ((81) makes contact with the composite cam (70) and the direction in which the auxiliary member (82) makes contact with the composite cam (70) can be brought closer to each other. Hence, the torque acting on the forked member (80) can be reduced, and a load applied to a pivot shaft that pivotally supports the forked member (80) can be reduced, thereby enabling the forked member (80) to oscillate stably.
