Abstract:
The microcell 15 in an optical detector 5 consists of a microcell 15a and a microcell 15b. Microcell 15a is used for acquisition of timing information, and microcell 15b is used for acquisition of energy information. Each scintillator 3 is optically connected to at least one microcell 15a and at least one microcell 15b. By providing separate microcells for energy information acquisition and timing information acquisition, it is possible to set microcell 15a to a specification for timing information acquisition and set microcell 15b to another specification for energy information acquisition. As a result, it becomes possible to improve the energy resolution while improving the timing resolution in a radiation detector.
