Abstract:
(EN) A risk-adjusted assessment of a target facility's quality measures (e.g. mortality rate, length of stay, readmission rate, complications rate, etc.) is determined with respect to the quality measures of a broader population base. Patient cohorts are identified corresponding to particular ailments or treatments, and the target facility's risk-adjusted quality measures are determined for each cohort. When a particular quality measure for a target cohort indicates poor performance, factors that are determined to be relevant to the patients' outcomes are identified and used to create a control group of patients in the broader population who exhibit similar factors but had better outcomes than the patients of the target cohort. The care process (treatments, medications, interventions, etc.) that each of the target patients received is compared to the care process that each of the control patients received, to identify potential root-causes of the poorer performance.
(FR) La présente invention concerne une évaluation, ajustée au risque, des mesures de qualité d'une installation cible (par exemple, le taux de mortalité, la durée du séjour, le taux de réadmission, le taux de complications, etc.), ladite évaluation étant déterminée par rapport aux mesures de qualité d'une base de population plus large. Des cohortes de patients sont identifiées correspondant à des états de santé particuliers ou à des traitements particuliers et les mesures de qualité ajustées au risque de l'installation cible sont déterminées pour chaque cohorte. Lorsqu'une mesure de qualité particulière pour une cohorte cible indique une faible performance, des facteurs qui sont déterminés être appropriés pour les résultats des patients, sont identifiés et utilisés pour créer un groupe témoin de patients dans la population plus large qui montrent des facteurs similaires mais avaient de meilleurs résultats que ceux des patients de la cohorte cible. Le processus de soins (traitements, médications, interventions, etc.) que chaque patient cible a reçu, est comparé au processus de soins que chaque patient témoin a reçu, pour identifier des causes profondes potentielles des performance plus médiocres.
