Abstract:
(EN) A ballast water monitoring device and a method for detecting live phytoplankton are disclosed. The device comprises a chamber for receiving a sample, at least one light source to emit light towards the sample, a light detector to receive light from the sample and generate a light signal, and a controller. The controller is configured to control the at least one light source to emit a single pulse of light, calculate the variable fluorescence [Fv] of the sample in response to the pulse of light, at time intervals less than the duration of the pulse of light, compare the calculated variable fluorescence to a predetermined reference limit, and perform an action if the calculated variable fluorescence is greater than the predetermined reference limit.
(FR) La présente invention concerne un dispositif de surveillance d'eau de ballast et un procédé de détection de phytoplancton vivant. Le dispositif comprend une chambre permettant de recevoir un échantillon, au moins une source de lumière permettant d'émettre de la lumière vers l'échantillon, un détecteur de lumière permettant de recevoir la lumière provenant de l'échantillon et de produire un signal lumineux et un dispositif de commande. Le dispositif de commande est conçu pour commander la ou les source(s) de lumière pour émettre une impulsion unique de lumière, calculer la fluorescence variable [Fv] de l'échantillon en réponse à l'impulsion de lumière, à des intervalles de temps inférieurs à la durée de l'impulsion de lumière, comparer la fluorescence variable calculée à une limite de référence prédéterminée, et exécuter une action si la fluorescence variable calculée est supérieure à la limite de référence prédéterminée.
