Abstract:
Provided are an optical communication control device and method which use a plurality of sub-carriers to set an optical path within a network. In order to effectively use fragmented wavelengths by allocating sub-carriers to available wavelengths of a plurality of paths and maximize usable optical paths throughout an entire system, a path is selected, upon receipt of an optical path setting/change request, in accordance with path information, and a transmission-side node device is controlled so as to allocate, to an available wavelength, a sub-carrier with a frame structure corresponding to the redundancy of the selected path, in respect to a fixed error correction code which is included in the path information and is required in order to transmit an optical signal. If the transmission data volume is insufficient at the time of wavelength allocation, a separate path is additionally selected, and the transmission-side node device is controlled so as to allocate, to an available wavelength, a sub-carrier with a frame structure corresponding to the redundancy of the separate path.
