Abstract:
(EN) Disclosed herein are flexible energy absorbing systems (90) and methods of manufacturing flexible energy absorbing systems. The systems include one or more cells (900) of a strain rate sensitive material and having a re-entrant geometry. Some of the systems are configurable in a planar form and in an aspherical form, wherein when configured in the aspherical form, the cells comprise a re-entrant geometry. Some of the systems have an anisotropic geometry to provide a different response to impacts from different directions.
(FR) L'invention concerne des systèmes d'absorption d'énergie souples et des procédés de fabrication de systèmes d'absorption d'énergie souples. Les systèmes comprennent une ou plusieurs cellules d'un matériau sensible à la vitesse de déformation et ayant une géométrie rentrante. Certains de ces systèmes présentent une géométrie anisotrope pour fournir une réponse différente à des chocs provenant de directions différentes.
