Abstract:
(EN) A method for operating a molten salt nuclear reactor having a melt of molten salt. The method comprises: determining the chemical composition of the melt and using the information about the chemical composition of the melt to determine the need for adjusting the composition of the melt in order to operate the reactor efficiently, directing a laser beam on the melt or on a sample of the melt thereby generating plasma, collecting light from the plasma and analyzing the light with a spectrometer to obtain information about the composition of the melt and, using the information about the composition of the melt to optimize the composition of the melt by addition of material to the melt and/or by reprocessing of molten salt from the melt, in order to operate the reactor efficiently and/or safely.
(FR) L'invention concerne un procédé de fonctionnement d'un réacteur nucléaire à sels fondus ayant une masse fondue de sels fondus. Le procédé comprend les étapes consistant : à déterminer la composition chimique de la masse fondue et utiliser les informations relatives à la composition chimique de la masse fondue pour déterminer le besoin de réglage de la composition de la masse fondue afin de faire fonctionner le réacteur de manière efficace, à diriger un faisceau laser sur la masse fondue ou sur un échantillon de la masse fondue ce qui permet de générer un plasma, à collecter une lumière provenant du plasma et analyser la lumière avec un spectromètre afin d'obtenir des informations concernant la composition de la masse fondue et utiliser les informations relatives à la composition de la masse fondue pour optimiser la composition de la masse fondue par ajout de matière à la masse fondue et/ou par retraitement de sels fondus provenant de la masse fondue, afin de faire fonctionner le réacteur de manière efficace et/ou sûre.
