Abstract:
Provided is a highly efficient and small charging device (1) which can prevent, at startup, excessive current from flowing into resonance elements (Cr1, Lr1), inverter circuits (Q1-Q4, D1-D4) and the like that are included in a current resonant converter (3), and which has little generated loss. The charging device (1) comprises the following: a current resonant converter (3) which includes inverter circuits (Q1-Q4, D1-D4), a transformer (Tr1), resonance elements (Cr1, Lr1), rectifying circuits (D11-D14), and a smoothing capacitor (C3) connected between the output terminals of the rectifying circuits (D11-D14); and DC-DC converters (4, 5) which are connected between the smoothing capacitor (C3) and storage batteries (7, 8). A control unit (9) causes the DC-DC converter (4) to perform a boost operation prior to the start of a switching operation executed by the current resonant converter (3), and then performs control so that the voltage of the smoothing capacitor (C3) becomes a prescribed voltage which is higher than the voltage of the storage battery (7).
