Abstract

The present invention relates to a process for the selective removal of nitrates from ground water using a hybrid nanofiltration (NF) - reverse osmosis (RO) filtration system. The process generates product water that is low in nitrate and can be used for drinking, irrigation and other purposes, as well as waste water that is relatively low in salinity and can be safely discarded to sewage systems and recycled, e.g., for irrigation purposes.

L'invention concerne un procédé pour éliminer sélectivement les nitrates présents dans des eaux souterraines à l'aide d'un système hybride de nanofiltration (NF) - filtration par osmose inverse (RO). Ledit procédé génère de l'eau à faible teneur en nitrates et pouvant être utilisée pour la boisson, l'irrigation et à d'autres fins, ainsi que des eaux usées à salinité relativement faible et pouvant être rejetées en toute sécurité dans des systèmes pour eaux usées, et recyclées, par exemple à des fins d'irrigation.
