A process for the dehydrogenation of aliphatic hydrocarbons to form olefins, which involves selecting a dehydrogenation catalyst comprising Cr in the form of Cr2O3 and a heat transfer media on a Al2O3 catalyst support, and comprises an effective ratio of Cr to metal in the heat transfer media, passing an aliphatic hydrocarbon feed stream into a fixed-bed reactor comprising the selected dehydrogenation catalyst, and dehydrogenating the aliphatic hydrocarbon feed stream with the selected dehydrogenation catalyst. The Cr and the heat transfer media are evenly distributed on the Al2O3 catalyst support, and a higher yield is provided using a catalyst with the effective ratio of Cr to the heat transfer media than with a dehydrogenation catalyst containing only Cr2O3 on the Al2O3 catalyst support.

L'invention porte sur un procédé de déshydrogénation d'hydrocarbures aliphatiques pour former des oléfines, le procédé consistant à : sélectionner un catalyseur de déshydrogénation comprenant du Cr sous forme de Cr2O3 et un milieu de transfert de chaleur sur un support de catalyseur en Al2O3, et comprend un rapport efficace de Cr par rapport au métal dans le milieu de transfert de chaleur ; faire passer un flux d'alimentation d'hydrocarbure aliphatique dans un réacteur à lit fixe comprenant le catalyseur de déshydrogénation sélectionné ; et déshydrogéner le flux d'alimentation d'hydrocarbure aliphatique avec le catalyseur de déshydrogénation sélectionné. Le Cr et le milieu de transfert de chaleur sont répartis uniformément sur le support de catalyseur en Al2O3 et un rendement plus élevé est obtenu avec un catalyseur comprenant le rapport efficace de Cr au milieu de transfert de chaleur qu'avec un catalyseur de déshydrogénation contenant uniquement Cr2O3 sur le support de catalyseur en Al2O3.
