Abstract

Methods of using microorganisms to make chemicals and fuels, including carboxylic acids, alcohols, hydrocarbons, and their alpha-, beta-, and omega-functionalized derivatives are described. Native or engineered thiolases are used condense a growing acyl-ACP and acetyl-ACP in combination with type II fatty acid synthesis. The resulting fatty acid biosynthesis cycle has an ATP yield analogous to the functional reverse β-oxidation cycle.

La présente invention concerne des procédés d'utilisation de micro-organismes pour fabriquer des produits chimiques et des combustibles, y compris des acides carboxyliques, des alcools, des hydrocarbures, et leurs dérivés alpha-, bêta-, et oméga-fonctionnalisés. Des thiolases natives ou modifiées sont utilisées pour condenser un acétyl-ACP et un acyl-ACP de croissance en combinaison avec la synthèse d'acides gras de type II. Le cycle de biosynthèse d'acide gras résultant a un rendement d'ATP analogue au cycle de β-oxydation inverse fonctionnel.
