Provided is a system comprising a conduit from a gas chromatograph column to a single reactor comprising a Fe, Co, Pt, Ni, Rh, Pd and/or Ru catalyst(s), with hydrogen and oxygen feed conduits for providing hydrogen and oxygen to the reactor, and a conduit from the reactor to an FID detector. This allows one to practice a method for the detection and quantification of organic molecules from a gas chromatograph which comprises passing the effluent from a gas chromatograph column to a reactor comprising a Fe, Co, Pt, Ni, Rh, Pd and/or Ru catalyst; adding hydrogen and air/oxygen to the reactor; reacting the effluent from the gas chromatograph column in the reactor to sequentially oxidize then reduce all organic containing molecules to CH4 by heating to an elevated temperature, and passing the reactor effluent to an FID.

L'invention concerne un système comprenant un conduit s'étendant entre une colonne de chromatographe en phase gazeuse et un réacteur unique, contenant des catalyseurs Fe, Co, Pt, Ni, Rh, Pd et/ou Ru, comportant des conduits d'alimentation en hydrogène et en oxygène pour fournir de l'hydrogène et de l'oxygène au réacteur, ainsi qu'un conduit s'étendant entre le réacteur et un détecteur FID. Ceci permet la mise en œuvre d'un procédé de détection et de quantification de molécules organiques issues d'un chromatographe en phase gazeuse qui consiste à faire passer l'effluent d'une colonne de chromatographe en phase gazeuse vers un réacteur comprenant un catalyseur Fe, Co, Pt, Ni, Rh, Pd et/ou Ru ; à ajouter de l'hydrogène et de l'air/oxygène au réacteur ; à faire réagir l'effluent issu de la colonne de chromatographe en phase gazeuse dans le réacteur de sorte à oxyder séquentiellement puis réduire toutes les molécules organiques en CH4 par chauffage à une température élevée, et à faire passer l'effluent issu du réacteur vers un FID.
