Disclosed herein are methods of detecting Plasmodium in a subject (for example, presence of Plasmodium parasite) by detecting the presence and/or amount of one or more metabolites in a sample from the subject. In some embodiments, the methods include detecting in the sample one or more metabolites listed in Table 1, Table 2, and/or Tables 5-8. The amount of the one or more metabolites in the sample is compared to the amount of the one or more metabolites in a control and presence of Plasmodium is determined if the amount of the one or more metabolites is different (for example statistically significantly increased or decreased) compared to the control.

La présente invention concerne des procédés de détection de Plasmodium chez un sujet (par exemple, la présence de parasite Plasmodium) par la détection de la présence et/ou de la quantité d'un ou de plusieurs métabolites dans un échantillon provenant du sujet. Dans certains modes de réalisation, les procédés consistent à détecter dans l'échantillon un ou plusieurs métabolites répertoriés dans le tableau 1, le tableau 2, et/ou les tableaux 5 à 8. La quantité d'un ou des métabolites dans l'échantillon est comparée à la quantité du ou des métabolites dans un contrôle et la présence de Plasmodium est déterminée si la quantité du ou des métabolites est différente (par exemple statistiquement significativement augmentée ou réduite) du contrôle.
