Provided is an excellent projection type video display device at relatively low cost. An embodiment of the projection type video display device magnifies and projects image light created by an optical modulator that modulates light from a light source, the device including an oblique projection optical system that magnifies and projects the modulated image light. The oblique projection optical system includes a plurality of lens elements and a reflection mirror that is convex relative to the image projection plane. The center of the outer shape of one or a plurality of lens elements disposed nearest to the reflection mirror is positioned above an optical axis shared by other lens elements. The reflection mirror has a reflection surface shape formed orthogonal to the image projection plane which includes the optical axis of the reflection mirror so that the average radius of curvature in the area through which the light flux focused at the center of the image projection plane passes is smaller than the average radius of curvature in the area through which the light flux focused at the upper end of the image projection plane passes. The lens element disposed nearest to the reflection mirror is formed so that the average radius of curvature of a horizontal cross-section relative to the image projection plane in the lens surface facing the reflection mirror at the upper end of the lens element is greater than the average radius of curvature in the area through which the light flux focused at the center of the image projection plane on the same lens surface passes.

L'invention porte sur un excellent dispositif d'affichage vidéo de type à projection à un coût relativement faible. Dans un mode de réalisation, le dispositif d'affichage vidéo de type à projection grossit et projette une lumière d'image créée par un modulateur optique qui module la lumière provenant d'une source de lumière, le dispositif comprenant un système optique de projection oblique qui grossit et projette la lumière d'image modulée. Le système optique de projection oblique comprend une pluralité d'éléments de lentille et un miroir de réflexion qui est convexe par rapport au plan de projection de l'image. Le centre de la forme externe d'un ou de plusieurs éléments de lentille disposés le plus près du miroir de réflexion est positionné au-dessus d'un axe optique partagé par d'autres éléments de lentille. Le miroir de réflexion a une forme de surface de réflexion formée orthogonale au plan de projection d'image qui comprend l'axe optique du miroir de réflexion de sorte que le rayon de courbure moyen dans la zone à travers laquelle passe le flux lumineux focalisé sur le centre du plan de projection d'image soit plus petit que le rayon de courbure moyen dans la zone à travers laquelle passe le flux lumineux focalisée sur l'extrémité supérieure du plan de projection d'image. L'élément de lentille disposé le plus près du miroir de réflexion est formé de telle sorte que le rayon moyen de courbure d'une section transversale horizontale par rapport au plan de projection d'image dans la surface de la lentille faisant face au miroir de réflexion au niveau de l'extrémité supérieure de l'élément de lentille soit plus grand que le rayon de courbure moyen dans la zone à travers laquelle passe le flux lumineux focalisé sur le centre du plan de projection d'image sur la même surface de lentille.

 比較的安価に、優れた特性の投写型映像表示装置を提供する。一実施の形態は、光源からの光を光変調部で変調した映像光を拡大して投写する投写型映像表示装置であって、前記変調した映像光を拡大して投写する傾斜投写光学系を備えており、前記傾斜投写光学系は、複数枚のレンズ素子と、映像投写面に対して凸形状をなす反射ミラーを含んでおり、前記反射ミラーに最も近い位置に配置された一枚又は複数枚のレンズ素子の外形中心は、他のレンズ素子が共有する光軸より上部に位置しており、前記反射ミラーは、当該反射ミラーの光軸を含む前記映像投影面に垂直方向の反射面形状が、前記映像投写面の上端部に結像する光束が通過する領域の平均曲率半径に対し、前記映像投写面の中央部で結像する光束が通過する領域の平均曲率半径が小さくなるように形成されており、前記反射ミラーに最も近い位置に配置されたレンズ素子は、その上端部の前記反射ミラーに面したレンズ面における前記映像投写面に水平方向の断面の平均曲率半径が、同一レンズ面の前記映像投写面の中央部で結像する光束が通過する領域の平均曲率半径よりも大きい形状をなしている。
