Grabbing device

The object of the invention is a grabbing device able to collect items of different types, in particular of organic origin (various organic substances, waste, etc.).

The prior art knows the collecting devices such as dustpans, shovels, etc. that are used to sweep items onto them. All of those are operated on a mechanical basis and require both hands to be used.

Application P 325 299 describes a device consisting of a scoop, attached to a rod finished with a handle, with a specific shape and with no bottom, so that a bag which acts as a pocket can be attached to the scoop. The front section is equipped with a scraper, which scoops the waste into the bag.

The prior art also knows application PL 201833 Bl, which describes a collecting device consisting of a rod and a jaw grabber. The hollow rod includes a movable shaft longer than the rod and whose one is attached to a pin of a hinge connecting the jaws, whereas the jaws are connected to the rod by arms pivotally attached to the outer surface of the jaws and the rod.

Patent application US2014131957A1 discloses drill-chuck body which is rotatable about an axis and formed with a plurality of passages opening axially rearward at a rear face of the body and radially outwardly at windows in a side of the body. Jaws displaceable between front and rear positions in the passages each have a row of teeth exposed radially outwardly at the respective windows. A tightening ring rotatable about the axis is formed with an internal screwthread engaged at the windows with the teeth such that rotation of the ring moves the jaws between the front and rear positions. A tightening sleeve fitted around and coupled rotationally to the tightening ring extends axially rearward past the windows. This brace ring is radially inwardly engaged with the body and engages radially outwardly between the windows and the rear face with the tightening sleeve so as to coaxially center it on the body.,

Patent application US2014152031A1 discloses A device for collecting waste, comprising: a handle including an internal cavity for storing a plurality of disposal bags; a stem extending from the handle and including a bore for receiving the bags; a plurality of pivotal collection fingers that are pivotally moveable relative to the stem; and an actuating mechanism that operates to pivot the collection fingers between closed and open positions, the actuating mechanism including an actuator that slides relative to the stem, a spring that biases the actuator toward a normal position from an actuated position, and a plurality of connecting arms that translate upward when the actuator is actuated and that are rotationally mounted to

knuckles of the collection fingers to form moment arms, wherein moving the actuator to the actuated position transfers the translatory upward force to the moment arms to pivot the collection fingers from the closed position to the open position to collect the waste, wherein releasing the actuator permits the spring to discharge and transfer an opposite translatory downward force to the moment arms to pivot the collection fingers from the open position to the closed position, and wherein the first bag in the roll can be fed through the stem bore, out of the stem, and beyond the collection fingers where it can be folded over for use to collect the waste into the bag and then removed to dispose of the bag holding the waste.

Patent application US2014152032A1 describe methods and apparatus are provided for a hand held device for collecting waste material deposits. In one exemplary embodiment the device comprises a frame with a grip portion, and a waste receptacle with an open end for receiving a waste material deposit. The exemplary device may further comprise a pivoting scoop adapted to swing between a loading position in which the scoop extends generally away from the grip end of the frame/and a dispensing position in which the scoop is generally juxtaposed with the open end of the waste receptacle.

Patent applications US2014152033A1 discloses the a device for collecting material from a surface. The device is particularly but not necessarily exclusively suited to collection of animal excreta, it has a jaw arrangement which is able to be opened to define a mouth for receiving the material to be collected, and to be closed to collect the material. A conveyor mechanism is provided for advancing collected material into a housing. A liner is placed over the jaw arrangement to separate it from the material being collected. The conveyor mechanism serves to advance the liner along with the material collected therein, whereby the material is able to be collected into the housing and retained in the liner without making contact with surfaces of the device.

Patent application US2014203579A1 discloses a foldable pet feces pickup device includes a handle, upper operating stick, and a lower operating stick. The device further includes a linkage accessory connecting the upper operating stick to the lower operating stick. The linkage accessory has an elongated shape with round convex parts. The device further includes a pair of picking-up members for picking up an object; and a shaft connecting the lower operation stick and the pair of picking-up members. If the upper operating stick is moved toward the handle, the pair of picking-up members moves away from each other to open. If the upper operating stick is moved away from the handle, the pair of picking-up members moves toward each other to close. The device is foldable at the linkage portion.

Patent application WO2010072833A1 discloses A manual tool that can be used for gathering waste material is described. The tool includes a pair of opposing blades that cooperate with one another to enable the user to scoop scrape and gather in a single device.

Patent application WO2012026860A1 discloses a hand tool for in one action picking up objects, solid objects and also slugs and similar slimy animals, and collecting them in an attached collection bag. The collection bag can easily be removed from the tool and either knotted up and disposed of or emptied and re-used. The animals can be killed in the same collecting action through the grip claws that are gripping the animal being drawn through a detachable knife blade whereupon the animal is split into two parts before they end up in the collection bag. The tool is characterised particularly by the fact that on depression of the handle the upper grip claw moves towards the lower grip claw (which is spring-loaded against the mount and still static) and when these make mechanical contact (through contact with each other or an intervening object) the lower claw holds firm and grips the object. On further depression of the handle the lower static grip claw begins to move and rotates with the upper. With the object in a grip between the grip claws these rotate on to a point where the grip is opened and the object is thrown in the direction of rotation of the grip claws. The bag or container is positioned in its way for collection.

Patent application WO2013167776A1 discloses a mechanical device designed for collecting dog excrement, consisting substantially of a telescopic pole with a handle, provided at its upper end with a walking leash.

The disadvantage of the known solutions is their insufficient degree of operational automation. The known grabbers require the lever to be physically actuated to trigger the grabber, whereas the presented grabber actuates automatically upon touching an obstacle (the ground).

Another drawback of the known grabbers is the method of operation thereof and the manner of carrying the grabbed items - they require both hands, whereas the presented device can be used to grab an object, move it, and drop it by using only one hand.

The object of the invention is distinguished by ease of use, as well as the speed and precision of grabbing. Is also characterised by the manner of collecting items, which is easy and clean for the operator.

The grabbing device consisting of a rod, jaw grabber and two-sided support arms, according to the invention, is characterised in that in the rod there is a movable shaft longer than the rod and whose one end is attached to a pin of a hinge connecting the jaws, whereas the jaws are connected to the rod by connecting plates pivotally attached to the outer surface of the jaws and the rod. Two-sided support arms are attached to the internal movable shaft. The upper section of the inner shaft is tapered and the circumference of the shaft includes a pressure spring, on the one end supported by the rod, and on the other by a removable lid. The spring-based latch mechanism can be released via a transversely-mounted trigger.

The device according to the invention allows for easy and clean collection, lifting and carrying of small items, in particular organic pieces such as animal droppings. The presented device allows the organic pieces/items to be collected without bending and without the need to use additional bags and containers. The presented device is easy to disassemble and maintain. The on-going maintenance can be done by simply rinsing it with water. The used jaws, springs and two-sides support arms combined with a handle and transverse trigger minimise the manual work required for the collection.

The device consists of a rod, jaw grabber and two-sided supports. Through a rod (1) which constitutes the outer body a movable shaft (2) is led, whose length is greater than the length of the rod, which constitutes an internal tube and whose one end is attached to a pin of a hinge (3) connecting the jaws (4) (cups), which are connected to the rod (1) by the arms (5)

(connecting plates) pivotally attached to the outer surface of the jaws (4) and the rod (1). The upper end of the inner shaft is tapered (6) and includes a spring (7). The internal mechanism is based on a ratchet (10) finished with a transverse trigger (11). The end of the rod (1) is finished with a twist-off lid (8) which facilitates the maintenance and disassembly of the entire device. A handle (9) is attached to the lid. The arms (5) of the jaws (14) are pivotally connected to the movable inner shaft (2) and two-sided outer supports (12) finished with removable attachments (13).

The present grabber is suitable for grabbing both solid objects as well as semi-plastic items (all kinds of plasma and plastic materials). Grabbing of solid objects is facilitated by the ability to use the device in a vertical orientation. If the grabbing device is oriented slantwise, semi-plastic and plastic items can be easily collected - in this orientation the device functions as a shovel.

The cleaning and maintenance of the device are as easy as its operation. To disassemble the device for cleaning and maintenance, remove the handle located at the end of the device, which will allow the remaining components to be removed by pulling out the spring. The bottom part of the grabbing device can be pulled out by releasing the locking lever via the ratchet mechanism. To reinstall the inner pipe place it in the outer body, and the ratchet mechanism will locks the shaft in place. The remaining components: the external cups and connecting plates can be cleaned by simple rinsing with water.
