The present technique relates to a transmission device, a transmission method, a receiving device, and a receiving method with which it is possible to transmit time information, etc., efficiently. The transmission device generates a physical layer frame in which time information indicating the point in time at a prescribed position in a stream of physical layer frames having a preamble and a payload is included in the preamble, and transmits the generated physical layer frames. The receiving device receives the physical layer frames and processes the received frames using the time information. The present technique can be applied to, e.g., the broadcasting of IP packets.

La présente invention concerne un dispositif de transmission, un procédé de transmission, un dispositif de réception, et un procédé de réception, avec lesquels il est possible de transmettre des informations temporelles, etc., efficacement. Le dispositif de transmission génère une trame de couche physique dans laquelle des informations temporelles indiquant le point temporel à une position prescrite dans un flux de trames de couche physique comprenant un préambule et une charge utile sont incluses dans le préambule, et transmet les trames de couche physique générées. Le dispositif de réception reçoit les trames de couche physique et traite les trames reçues au moyen des informations temporelles.
