A region-of-interest extraction device comprising: an extraction means that extracts at least one partial region from an input image; a search means that, for each partial region extracted by the extraction means, searches for an image similar to the partial region in an image database that stores a plurality of images; and a degree-of-interest determination means that determines the degree-of-interest for each partial region, on the basis of the search results from the search means. As a result, a region-of-interest can be extracted with high precision from an image and a degree-of-interest for same can be calculated.

La présente invention concerne un dispositif d’extraction de région d'intérêt comprenant : un moyen d'extraction qui extrait au moins une région partielle à partir d'une image d'entrée ; un moyen de recherche qui, pour chaque région partielle extraite par le moyen d'extraction, recherche une image similaire à la région partielle dans une base de données d'images qui mémorise une pluralité d'images ; et un moyen de détermination de degré d'intérêt qui détermine le degré d'intérêt de chaque région partielle, en se basant sur les résultats de recherche en provenance du moyen de recherche. En conséquence, une région d'intérêt peut être extraite avec une précision élevée à partir d'une image et un degré d'intérêt associé peut être calculé.

注目領域抽出装置は、入力画像から1つまたは複数の部分領域を抽出する抽出手段と、前記抽出手段によって抽出されたそれぞれの部分領域について、当該部分領域と類似する画像を、複数の画像を記憶する画像データベースから検索する検索手段と、前記検索手段による検索結果に基づいて、それぞれの部分領域の関心度を決定する関心度決定手段と、を備える。これにより、画像中から注目領域を精度良く抽出し、かつその関心度を算出できる。
