Provided is a cutting tool that improves chip processability. This cutting tool is provided with a cutting edge member that forms at least one corner section, wherein the material of the cutting edge member is selected from among diamond, an ultra-high pressure sintered body containing cubic boron nitride, or a material obtained by forming a coating film via PVD or CVD on a surface of said ultra-high pressure sintered body. A cutting edge is formed on at least part of the ridge where a peripheral side surface and an end surface of the cutting edge member intersect. A chip breaker having a breaker wall surface is formed on the end surface of the cutting edge member. The breaker wall surface has at least one protruding surface section that is curved so as to swell toward the outside of the cutting tool. Seen from the end surface side, the protruding surface section is disposed separately from a virtual plane A that is set so as to divide the corner section into two equal parts.

L'invention concerne un outil de coupe qui améliore l'aptitude au traitement de copeaux. Cet outil de coupe comprend un élément de bord de coupe qui forme au moins une section de coin, le matériau de l'élément de bord de coupe étant choisi parmi un diamant, un corps fritté à ultra-haute pression contenant du nitrure de bore cubique, ou un matériau obtenu par formation d'un film de revêtement par l'intermédiaire de PVD ou CVD sur une surface dudit corps fritté à ultra-haute pression. Un bord de coupe est formé sur au moins une partie de l'arête où une surface latérale périphérique et une surface d'extrémité de l'élément de bord de coupe se croisent. Un brise-copeaux ayant une surface de paroi de broyeur est formé sur la surface d'extrémité de l'élément de bord de coupe. La surface de paroi de broyeur a au moins une section de surface en saillie qui est incurvée de façon à gonfler vers l'extérieur de l'outil de coupe. Vu depuis le côté de surface d'extrémité, la section de surface en saillie est disposée séparément d'un plan virtuel A qui est défini de façon à diviser la section de coin en deux parties égales.
