According to some embodiments, functionality of a conventional variable speed drive (VSD) for driving a subsea electric motor is "split" with the CPU with frequency converter control being located topside and the low-level switching hardware being located subsea with the subsea motor. The motor can be used, for driving a pumping or other fluid processing module in a subsea oil or gas field.

L'invention concerne, selon certains modes de réalisation, une fonctionnalité d'un entraînement à vitesse variable (VSD) classique destiné à entraîner un moteur électrique sous-marin qui est « répartie », l'unité centrale de traitement avec la commande de convertisseur de fréquence étant située côté supérieur et le matériel de commutation de bas niveau étant situé sous l'eau avec le moteur sous-marin. Le moteur peut être utilisé pour entraîner un module de pompage ou autre module de traitement de fluide dans un champ pétrolifère ou gazifière sous-marin.
