Abstract
(EN) A technique is provided for estimating time of arrival of a signal transmitted as a pulse and received as a sum of pulses. The received signal is filtered with a novel filter that lowers the early side lobes of the received signal to noise level. A first energy rise point is identified at a point of the main lobe of the filtered received signal, at which the energy is higher than the noise by a predetermined level. Starting from the identification of the first energy rise points, the time of arrival is estimated via curve matching, in which the shape of the filtered received signal is matched to the shape of composed by a sum of one or more reference curves that are shifted both in time and in energy. The reference curves are found by applying to the transmitted signal the same filter applied to the received signal.
(FR) L'invention concerne une technique pour estimer le temps d'arrivée d'un signal émis sous la forme d'une impulsion et reçu sous la forme d'une somme d'impulsions. Le signal reçu est filtré au moyen d'un nouveau filtre qui réduit les lobes latéraux précoces du niveau de signal sur bruit reçu. Un premier point d'augmentation d'énergie est identifié au niveau d'un point du lobe principal du signal reçu filtré, au niveau duquel l'énergie est plus élevée que le bruit à hauteur d'un niveau prédéfini. En commençant par l'identification des premiers points d'augmentation d'énergie, le temps d'arrivée est estimé par l'intermédiaire d'une correspondance de courbe, dans laquelle la forme du signal reçu filtré est mis en correspondance avec la forme d'une somme d'une ou de plusieurs courbes de référence qui sont décalées à la fois dans le temps et en énergie. Les courbes de référence sont trouvées en appliquant au signal émis le même filtre appliqué au signal reçu.
