Abstract:
(EN) A substantially borderless LCD (100) having an increased display area achieved by mounting the driver electronics (130) underneath the display panel and connecting them to the display by wire bonding (140). The space required by driver electronics mounted at the edge (i.e. border) of a conventional TFT-substrate assembly reduces the amount of available display area. Furthermore, the electronics may make the panel thicker and detract from its appearance. However, in this device the driver electronics are mounted below the TFT substrate assembly (120) and are connected to the TFT conductors by wire bonds passing either through holes in the substrate or along the TFT substrate assembly edge. The display can be round and is suitable for a smart watch or fitness monitor. It may include a touch panel (160) arranged over the display panel with further wire bonds (170) connecting this input unit with the driver electronics.
(FR) L’invention concerne un afficheur à cristaux liquides (LCD) sensiblement sans bordure (100) ayant une zone d'affichage accrue obtenue par le montage de l'électronique de pilotage (130) sous le panneau d'affichage et en la connectant à l'afficheur par connexion par fils (140). L'espace requis par l’électronique de pilotage montée à l’extrémité (c'est-à-dire, la bordure) d'un ensemble substrat TFT classique permet de réduire la quantité de zone d'affichage disponible. En outre, l’électronique peut rendre le panneau plus épais et nuire à son apparence. Cependant, dans ce dispositif, l'électronique de pilotage est montée en-dessous de l'ensemble substrat TFT (120) et est connectée aux conducteurs TFT par des connexions par fils passant soit à travers des trous dans le substrat, soit le long de l’extrémité de l’ensemble substrat TFT. L'afficheur peut être rond et est approprié pour une smartwatch ou un dispositif de surveillance des conditions physiques. Il peut comprendre un panneau tactile (160) disposé sur le panneau d'affichage par des connexions par fils supplémentaires (170) connectant cette unité d’entrée à l'électronique de pilotage.
