Abstract:
(EN) Polyester polyols, processes for making them, and applications for the polyols are disclosed. In some aspects, the polyols comprise recurring units from a thermoplastic polyester or an aromatic polyacid source, a glycol, and a lignin, tannin, or mixture thereof. Optionally, the polyols incorporate recurring units of a hydrophobe. The polyols are made in one or multiple steps; in some aspects, the thermoplastic polyester or aromatic polyacid source and the glycol are reacted first, followed by reaction with the lignin, tannin, or mixture thereof. High-recycle-content polyols having desirable properties and attributes for formulating polyurethane products, including two- component polyurethane coatings, can be made. The polyols provide a sustainable alternative to bio- or petrochemical-based polyols.
(FR) L'invention concerne des polyester polyols, des procédés pour leur préparation et des applications pour ces polyols. Dans certains aspects, les polyols sont composés d'unités récurrentes d'un polyester thermoplastique ou d'une source de polyacide aromatique, d'un glycol, d'une lignine, d'une tannine ou de mélanges de ces composants. Éventuellement, les polyols comprennent des unités récurrentes d'un hydrophobe. Les polyols sont préparés en une ou plusieurs étapes ; dans certains aspects, le polyester thermoplastique ou la source de polyacide aromatique et le glycol sont amenés à réagir d'abord, puis amenés à réagir avec la lignine, la tannine ou le mélange de ces composants. Des polyols à niveau élevé de recyclage ayant des propriétés et des attributs souhaitables pour la formulation de produits de polyuréthane, notamment de revêtements de polyuréthane à deux composants, peuvent être fabriqués. Les polyols offrent une alternative durable aux polyols à base de produits biochimiques ou pétrochimiques.
