(EN)The invention are directed to a CoMoS2 OR a CoWS2 catalyst prepared by refluxing reactants to form a precursor material that is subsequently decomposed to form a catalyst. Specifically, a CoMoS2 catalyst prepared from cobalt nitrate hexahydrate and ammonium molybdate to form a CoMoS2 catalyst precursor that is subsequently decomposed to form CoMoS2 catalyst.
