Title: SCANNING OPTICAL SYSTEM AND RADAR
Abstract:
Provided are a scanning optical system and a radar which are capable of achieving reflected light of sufficient intensity regardless of an object to be measured. The present invention causes luminous flux, emitted from a light source, to be reflected twice by a first mirror surface and a second mirror surface and therefore enables uniform light projection in which variations in the rotation angle of the beam profile and the polarisation direction do not readily occur in a scanning range. Furthermore, the luminous flux, emitted from a light projection system, can be maintained in a state in which light is linearly polarised within a range of ± 30° relative to a direction perpendicular to the scanning direction when scanning and projecting light onto the object. Therefore, a radar can be provided which is also capable of receiving scattered light of a sufficient light intensity from an object in water, said object being present in a pool, a puddle, or the like for example, and with which distance is easily measured regardless of the object. In addition, a radar can be provided which is capable of wide-ranging light projection in a sub-scanning direction as well as in the main scanning direction by scanning a plurality of positions, which are different and are parallel to the main scanning direction at the object side during one rotation of a mirror unit.
