Abstract:
(EN) The invention relates to methods of assessing communication between cells. Methods of the invention use optical reporters of cellular electrical activity to evaluate signal propagation between cells and can be used to study an individual synapse or a complex network of interconnected cells. Aspects of the invention provide a method for characterizing signal propagation between cells. The method includes providing a first cell containing a light-generating reporter and a second cell, in which the first cell and the second cell are in communication. The second cell may contain an optical actuator of cellular electrical activity. The second cell is exposed to a stimulus and an optical signal from the first cell is detected.
(FR) L'invention concerne des procédés d'évaluation de la communication entre cellules. Des procédés selon l'invention utilisent des rapporteurs optiques de l'activité électrique cellulaire pour évaluer la propagation de signaux entre cellules et peut être utilisé pour étudier une synapse individuelle ou un réseau complexe de cellules interconnectées. Des aspects de l'invention concernent un procédé de caractérisation de la propagation de signaux entre cellules. Le procédé comprend la fourniture d'une première cellule contenant un rapporteur de génération de lumière et une seconde cellule, la première cellule et la seconde cellule étant en communication. La seconde cellule peut contenir un actionneur optique de l'activité électrique cellulaire. La seconde cellule est exposée à un stimulus et un signal optique provenant de la première cellule est détecté.
