Abstract:
(EN) Disclosed is a method of Controlling a gain of an optical amplifier comprising a gain medium and at least one pumping device. The method comprises the following steps: determining or predicting a change of input signal power to the amplifier, changing the pump power from an initial pump power level to a new pump power level at a first time instant, the initial pump power level being the pump power level applied to the amplifier prior to the change in input signal power, setting the pump power to a second pump power level at a second time instant, wherein the pump power level is varied in an oscillatory manner for at least one period of time starting at a third time instant and ending at a fourth time instant, wherein said third time instant is identical with or later than said first time instant and said fourth time instant is identical with or earlier than said second time instant.
(FR) La présente invention concerne un procédé de commande d'un gain d'un amplificateur optique qui comprend un milieu de gain et au moins un dispositif de pompage. Le procédé comprend les étapes suivantes : la détermination ou la prédiction d'un changement de puissance de signal d'entrée vers l'amplificateur, le changement de la puissance de pompe d'un niveau de puissance de pompage initial à un nouveau niveau de puissance de pompe à un premier instant, le niveau de puissance de pompe initial étant le niveau de puissance de pompe appliqué sur l'amplificateur avant le changement de la puissance de signal d'entrée, le réglage de la puissance de pompe à un second niveau de puissance de pompe à un deuxième instant, le niveau de puissance de pompe étant varié de manière oscillatoire pendant au moins une période qui commence à un troisième instant et se termine à un quatrième instant, ledit troisième instant étant identique ou ultérieur audit premier instant et ledit quatrième instant étant identique ou antérieur audit deuxième instant.
