It is disclosed an optical coherent receiver comprising a number of decoding blocks configured to implement iterations of a FEC iterative message-passing decoding algorithm. The decoding blocks are distributed into two (or more) parallel chains of cascaded decoding blocks. The receiver also comprises an intermediate circuit interposed between the two parallel chains. The optical coherent receiver is switchable between (i) a first operating mode, in which the intermediate circuit is inactive and the two parallel chains separately implement the FEC message-passing decoding algorithm on respective client channels; and (ii) a second operating mode, in which the intermediate circuit is active and the two parallel chains jointly implement the FEC message-passing decoding algorithm on a same client channel, by cooperating through the intermediate circuit.

L'invention concerne un récepteur optique cohérent qui comporte un certain nombre de blocs de décodage configurés pour mettre en œuvre des itérations d'un algorithme itératif de décodage à passage de messages à correction d'erreurs sans voie de retour (FEC). Les blocs de décodage sont répartis en deux (ou plus) chaînes parallèles de blocs de décodage en cascade. Le récepteur comprend également un circuit intermédiaire intercalé entre les deux chaînes parallèles. Le récepteur optique cohérent est commutable entre (i) un premier mode de fonctionnement, dans lequel le circuit intermédiaire est inactif et les deux chaînes parallèles mettent en œuvre séparément l'algorithme de décodage à passage de messages FEC sur des canaux clients respectifs; (ii) un second mode de fonctionnement, dans lequel le circuit intermédiaire est actif et les deux chaînes parallèles mettent en œuvre conjointement l'algorithme de décodage à passage de messages FEC sur un même canal client, par coopération par l'intermédiaire du circuit intermédiaire.
