Abstract

Oxazoline functional copolymers are highly effective towards increasing the molecular weight, intrinsic viscosity and melt viscosity of polycondensates such as biopolyesters, for example polylactic acid. The functional copolymers comprise isopropenyl oxazoline monomer units and further monomer units, where the further monomers are for instance selected from ethyl acrylate, methyl (meth)acrylate, butyl (meth)acrylate, 2-ethylhexyl (meth)acrylate, hydroxyethyl (meth)acrylate, glycidyl (meth)acrylate, hydroxypropyl (meth)acrylate, hydroxybutyl (methy)acrylate, styrene and a-methylstyrene. The process for preparing chain extended polycondensates comprises reacting a) an oxazoline functional copolymer and b) at least one polycondensate. The oxazoline functional copolymers are also effective towards providing compatibilized blends of at least two different polycondensates.

L’invention concerne des copolymères à fonctionnalité oxazoline très efficaces pour augmenter le poids moléculaire, la viscosité intrinsèque et la viscosité à l'état fondu de polycondensats tels que des biopolyesters, par exemple l'acide polylactique.
