This exhaust purification device is provided with a reduction catalyst that reduces nitrogen oxides contained in exhaust. The reduction catalyst is provided with a catalyst layer and an adsorption layer covering the catalyst layer. The catalyst layer contains a catalyst support that supports silver. The adsorption layer contains a solid acid metal oxide that is acidic, and the acidity of the adsorption layer is greater than that of the catalyst layer. The adsorption layer has the characteristic of adsorbing ammonia generated at the catalyst layer, and causing the adsorbed ammonia to contact sulfur oxides contained in the exhaust.

Le dispositif de purification de gaz d'échappement selon l'invention est pourvu d'un catalyseur de réduction qui réduit les oxydes d'azote contenus dans le gaz d'échappement. Le catalyseur de réduction est pourvu d'une couche de catalyseur et d'une couche d'adsorption recouvrant la couche de catalyseur. La couche de catalyseur contient un support de catalyseur qui supporte de l'argent. La couche d'adsorption contient un oxyde métallique d'acide solide qui est acide, et l'acidité de la couche d'adsorption est supérieure à celle de la couche de catalyseur. La couche d'adsorption a la caractéristique d'adsorber l'ammoniac généré au niveau de la couche de catalyseur, et d'amener l'ammoniac adsorbé à entrer en contact avec les oxydes de soufre contenus dans le gaz d'échappement.
